Wonderful people, our new single is out !!
Today we’re dropping the first single from their upcoming EP: a dark version of the 1984 Hubert Kah classic “Wenn der Mond die Sonne berührt”. This is our first cover song and their debut in German. It’s a tribute to an era – and a deep celebration of contradiction.
Here’s some info from our press release for you:
“Wenn der Mond die Sonne berührt” is about unrequited love and was originally released in 1984 as the second single on Hubert Kah’s album “Goldene Zeiten.” DEEPER YOU were inspired by its contradictions. “The original from 1984 already floats in a magical in-between world,” says DEEPER YOU’s Nick Thal, “between soft synth-pop, the wink of the New German Wave, and this touching, dreamy depth that can be found throughout Hubert Kah’s work.” DEEPER YOU aim to expand on these contrasts and translate them into their dark soundscapes. The gentle melody meets hard riffs and orchestral arrangements, garnished with childlike backing vocals and a powerful old-school guitar solo. However, the tempo, key, and structure remain unchanged: “We didn’t want to destroy the song’s DNA but to bow down with dignity to the work of this band and also to the era from which this music originated – an era that has greatly influenced our music.”
Following the story, DEEPER YOU also includes the English version “The Picture,” which originally appeared in 1985 as the soundtrack to the vampire comedy “Once Bitten.” Both tracks will be available as a digital bundle starting August 29, 2024, on all music platforms, and YouTube.
